Outcome + Process + Evidence

Traditional files preserve outcomes. HEXT preserves outcome, process, and evidence.

A document without provenance is content. A document with HEXT becomes a crystallized knowledge object that can be audited, verified, and transmitted across humans, models, institutions, and time.

Core Thesis

As synthetic systems become more capable, the central challenge is no longer raw generation but the integrity of interpretation. HEXT provides cognitive infrastructure: a substrate for semantic consistency.

Design Principles

  1. HEXT is an evidence container — responsibilities do not change across versions.
  2. HEXT is a Semantic Object Graph — XML is canonical serialization only.
  3. HTML is rendering. Markdown is authoring. JSON is transport.
  4. Observation metadata is EXIF, not observation data itself.
  5. Backward compatibility is mandatory — grandfather clauses preserve sealed objects.
